The 22nd Asia Oceania Geosciences Society Annual Meeting (AOGS2025) was held in Singapore from July 26 to August 2, 2025. On the morning of July 29, the AS08 session "Climate Extremes and Compound Events: Monitoring, Mechanism and Projection," jointly convened by Chinese and Thai scholars, concluded successfully. The venue was packed with attendees, creating a vibrant academic atmosphere. This session represents another significant achievement in China-Thai scientific collaboration, with scholars from both countries working closely together to advance international exchange in climate science.
The session brought together researchers from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Brunei, Thailand, South Korea, India, and other countries and regions. A total of 12 oral presentations and 10 poster displays were delivered. Participating scholars engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics including monitoring, mechanisms, and projections of climate extremes and compound events, sharing their latest research findings.
As the convener of this session, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all scholars who presented oral reports and poster displays, as well as to all audience members for their excellent contributions and interactive discussions. I also extend my thanks to Professor Wen Chen from Yunnan University for his guidance on the session, and to Professor Wen Zhou from Fudan University (AOGS Fellow) for attending and chairing the session.
We look forward to our next gathering with everyone!
